Combined Catalogs of Sporting Goods Manufacturers 1929, illustrated hc 436 pages

Combined Catalogs of Sporting Goods Manufacturers 1929, Including Cyclopedia of Sports. Edited by Cal Johnson. January Edition Sporting Goods Journal, Published Annually by National Sports Publications. Hardcover, no dust jacket, 436 pages, more than 190 sporting goods manufacturers and 370 sporting products listed. Hundreds of photographs, illustrations, and advertisements for major, professional, and minor sports activities. A few pages are multicolored; no color photographs. The Cyclopedia sections include World Records for many sports, stats for the 1928 World Series, Game Laws and Rules for sports from Archery to Wrestling. This book provides a detailed look at the world of sports from 95 years ago. The interior is excellent: pages are clean and bright, with no damage, discoloration, writing or odor. The exterior is good minus: the red cloth covers and spine show no fading or discoloration, with no wear other than at corners and top and bottom of spine; gilt on front looks quite good; gilt on spine is readable; front and rear boards are a bit loose but in no danger of separating; otherwise, binding is strong but cocked. Overall this is a nice copy of a hard-to-find sports book.
